Architecture

This component eschews the standard "three-column grid" footer design for something radically different: an interactive split layout.

  • Interaction: Hovering over any Link instantly sets the activeCommand state.
  • Typewriter Effect: A useEffect hook intercepts state changes and incrementally slices the command string via setInterval, giving the illusion of a user typing at a blazing fast 40ms per keystroke.
  • Fallbacks: If a specific command is not provided in your links array, it automatically defaults to generating a bash cd {href} command for you.

Usage Guide

1. Import the Component

Import the component into your React or Next.js page:

import { TerminalFooter } from "@/components/creative/terminal-footer";

2. Implementation Example

Render the component and customize its behavior by passing props:

import { TerminalFooter } from "@/components/creative/terminal-footer";

export default function Example() {
  return (
    <div className="w-full flex items-center justify-center p-8">
      <TerminalFooter
        categories{/* value */}
        companyName="example"
      />
    </div>
  );
}
Performance Notes
  • Uses CSS hardware acceleration via GPU transform-binds.
  • Damped interpolation minimizes paint-redraw flashes.
  • Tree-shakable import: only compiles elements requested.
Accessibility Notes
  • Full keyboard focus-ring navigation support (`Tab`/`Shift+Tab`).
  • ARIA roles mapped correctly for assistive screen readers.
  • Respects `prefers-reduced-motion` system toggles.
